Question Losi SCTE or?

Heres my story, about 2 years ago I got a traxxas slash 2wd had a blast with it for about 4-5 months then one day i was running it fine and then it just starts stuttering like someone who's learning how to drive stick, upon closer inspection I hear some gears in the back grinding like crazy. I figured something was loose, so i brought it to my local RC store and to make a long story short they said it would be 150-200$ to fix the whole thing back up cause it was not just the gears i herd, i cant remember exactly what else was wrong but I didn't bother with it anymore, which leads me to this thread, I want to get back into the hobby and I have 600$ to spend, I was looking at the losi ten scte, it seems to have everything included and i have herd nothing but good reviews about it. So I go to my local RC store again and the guy i was talking to said why not look into a "kit" specifically a tekno kit? I just wanted to know what your guy's opinions would be on this matter, Thanks. Oh and im just looking to bash around my house I have almost every terrain, loose, compact(baseball field like), asphalt, concrete, mud etc. Thanks again.

Ok,...

About the Slash, it might be just motor cogging and that's totally normal with sensorless systems. Does it only grind at super slow speed? Can you still accelerate and run it etc?

Tekno = Racers spec truck - With a Tekno, you're going to pay a lot for precision and the name. Trust me, unless you're competing in the top classes at a track, it's not worth it.

You're a basher (like me) and you need a bashing vehicle. A 4WD 1/8 brushless buggy will perform amazingly on those surfaces. What is your budget? (I'm guessing pretty decent if you were considering a Tekno)

Let's not jump to conclusions here, dude. Lol. First off, we have no idea if its a brushed Slash (considering it is 2 years old) or if the Titan is dead and a few gears are ground up in the transmission and the hobby shop just wanted to charge a lot for it. It could be as easy as $60 for him to fix; no need to spend $600, which is his budget BTW. His hobby shop does sound.... bad (recommending a Tekno kit to a first time builder and basher), so it really could be that.

As far as your truck goes Gains, just get a new ESC and motor for your Slash. That should be only $60-70 and you can still get an OFNA LX2E and batteries with the money left over.

Motor; http://www.atomikrc.com/collections/...-roar-approved
ESC; http://www.ebay.com/itm/120A-Sensore...item3aace6b8f2

As far as the 1/8 goes...

Buggy; http://www.amain.com/rc-cars/ofna-hy...n14361/p291824
Batteries (you need 2 of these); http://www.atomikrc.com/collections/...-with-uni-plug
Charger (if you don't have one already); http://www.atomikrc.com/collections/...attery-charger
Dual LiPO charge adapter; http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBYFP

Man, I messed that up. lol Totally missed his budget and didn't get all the info on the Slash. I need to slow way down! I read that the LHS wanted $$$ to fix it, so I figured they were gonna put a new motor/esc in. (jumping to conclusions... ) Thanks for the point-out Collector, I'll start paying more attention. Although, I can't wait to see if I'm right! lol

Lol, no problem. Just didn't want the OP to spend too much money if he didn't have to.

Sorry for the late reply guys, I just got back from a fishing trip. In regards to my slash, I gave it too my little brother long ago and god knows what he did with that thing, so its out of the picture now. And I wanted another SCT, not a big fan of buggys. Sounds like the tekno kit is out of my line for now so I guess it's the Losi then. Should I get the 599.99$ one with charger and battery or the 539.99$ one with just the rc and buy charger/battery separately? Thanks for the help fellas

Depends on the battery and charger included with the Losi. But I highly suggest, like DieHarder said, to get a 1/8 buggy like the OFNA I specified.

I guess I will revive an old thread.
I suggest looking to see what your local store carries in parts and support. I had a Losi xxx-sct but my local store carried nothing for them, and you will break stuff bashing. So I switched to Team Associated.
Traxxas is usually carried everywhere and they are pretty durable and have tons of upgrade possibilities.
If your just going to bash I would suggest a stadium truck over a short course , I beat the crap out of my HPI Firestorm and haven't broken anything yet.
A note on buggies, make sure to have a good front bumper that can extend to protect the shocks and arms for bashing purposes.
