Default Hanger 9 1/4 Cub and O.S. FT-160?

I want to put a O.S. FT-160 twin in my Hanger 9 1/4 Cub and was wondering how to figure the right mounting location on the firewall? Any body out there that can help me? Also what prop works best with this motor and plane?

Thanks,

Bill..

Are there already holes predrilled in the firewall for their engine mount? If so,you could find the center using the holes and then line up your motor.

There is a template for the G23 and inverted mount saito, maybe I could use that to find center? Would that be the trust line? I believe right thrust has already been built into the firewall.

Thanks for the response!

I would use the template for the saito. It should work.Of course line everything up before drilling any holes though.

Default Hanger 9 1/4 Cub and O.S. FT-160?

Gday,
I have a Sig 1/4 scale J3 Cub with the OS FT-160 engine in it.

You should be able to get the centre line top and bottom marked on the firewall from the plans , the Sig kit shows where these thrust line runs but not sure about your kit.

As they say measure many , cut once or drill in this case.

I find this engine has an abundance of power and I rarelyu go to full throttle, take off is about 1/3 and even with the floats on it will go up on the step and lift off at about 1/2 to 2/3 throttle.

By the way mine is not light - 20 lbs!

Beauty of the twin is the sound and the fact you can swing a scale prop, i use an 18 x 10 Master Airscrew classic but an 18 x 12 would be better if you could find one.

I also have a custom exaust so it looks fairly scale and the exaust exits in the scale location.

cheers
