Default Airtop 8" balloon wheel help !

My Airtop 8" Bush plane tires arrived from the Czech Republic. They are for my 1/4 Super cub. I was amazed they actually came. First they are perfect and look very scale to the bush planes in Alaska and Canada.

Problem: The wheel has two simple hubs. One from Left and One from the right with 4 bolts. Simple? Not. The bolts are to short. I tried compressing the tires with body weight and they still do not reach to secure each side.

My solution is longer 4 bolts from Home Depot. Before I do that I am seeking advise to use the hardware....or either I received the wrong hardware packet with the wheels.

Thanks
Teddy

Have you considered using a bolt through the axle holes and compressing the hubs together by tightening the nut . Once compressed you should be able to get the hub fasteners in .

CK1 has a good suggestion. I also have the 8" airtops on my 1/4 scale cub. Two other suggestions. Make sure the small plastic plugs that keep the air from moving in and out of the tire are not in place. They are not needed unless your in really wet conditions (like deep standing water). The tires hold their shape fine without them. Another suggestion is to set the tires in the sun and get them very warm. They'll get really soft and will compress better. The provided screws will work but it is a bit of an effort. The airtops look awesome on a cub.

Just a follow up on the Airtop 8" tires . The hub from Dubro 1/3 scale cub wheels will fit the Airtop tires .

Have you flown with them on yet? I too have a pair of those, and am anxious to know how they perform. Mine are going on a Sig 1/4 scale Cub that I'm bashing into a PA-14.
