Best WW2-fighter sound from a DLE55?
Dear all
I am looking for my first 50cc gas scale warbird, and seem to stuck regarding sound. Airframe is spitfire, hurricane or sea fury.
I know I could select a 4stroke, but I find that the soundpicture from a single cylinder 4stroke is like rpm is to low. Real WW2 engines runs 3000 rpm, but due to multiple cylinders, the engine sounds to run much faster.
Radial 4strokes are Sweet, but out of reach
What is the best muffler to make a DLE55 sound less like a chainsaw?
krumscheid, Keleo, others?
Any DIY tricks?

My Feedback: (1)
Propellor choice has a lot to do with the sound level and quality. Dle 55's don't mind being loaded with a large prop. I have one with a Xoar 22x8 3-blade prop on a P-40 and it flies scale and sounds deep in tone. I've got another DLE 55 in a big P-47 swinging a 20x10 4-blade prop. You never get away from the fact that it's a 2-stroke engine, but a lower tone is more appealing, at least in my opinion.
