Default Q-400 What is it?

I need some help. I have a Q-400, it runs great, idles nice and slow. Is there someone out there that knows this engine. What is the relation to a Q-42 Is this a improvement over the Q-42. What kind of power ? What are prop recomendations for a 15 lb airplane. Specifally a Morrisey Bravo. Please, help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks PJAMESRC

Since Quadra can't make the Q-35 or Q42 they had to come up with a new engine, voila the Q400 with a reed valve set up.is it a 400M, B or G
cu.in is 2.3 (37.7cc
supposedly [email protected]@5400
avg total T/O weight 22lbs
props, 18x12, 20x10, 22x8.
engine wt..3.19lbs to 4.16lbs W/O muffler.

hopes this helps.

I have two of them - one on mag and the other electronic. They both pull a 20x10 in the 7000 range depending on prop brand. For more thrust (less speed) I use a 20x8 - for more scale speeds I use a 20x10.
Very reliable engine.

I also have two of them......one CH electronic ignition one magneto......The Q400B flys my 1/3 Spacewalker with authority and should handle your Bravo without sweat.Quite smooth very reliable and easy starting.I use 20x10 props and get 7000> Nice scale engine since its very compact and the carb manifold can be rotated.......Bisson makes mufflers for it.....[sm=thumbup.gif]

STALSPIN,CANMAM,KEVIN MCGRAPH,
Thank you for a timely and informative response. Im not sure if it is a B or G model. Are these engines available now? Any advantage CH elec ingition over magneto? I,ll go to the Quadra site. Thank you once again. I enjoy the RCU for this very reason. Information from informed people. PJAMESRC

B stands for battery and is the factory conversion to electronic ignition which utilizes a CH unit.Quite a bit lighter with no coil or flywheel and very easy hand starting ,better idle and v smooth transition......My flywheel model has a spring starter and is an easy starter too.........B&B in Ohio have parts and handle US warranty and also sell new engines last time I checked...
