I spend lots of hrs getting this K ready to fly, the first owner framed it then, nearly 25 years later I was able to complete it and got it to fly, sold it to a club member for $80, complete with a new LA 40 minus my receiver, about a month later I asked where was the K, it crashed he said, broken at the rear of the wing saddle, I told him I could fix it for him, I will fix it he said, a month later I asked again, I trashed it he said, I was so pissed off, such a good flyer and it waited 25 years to fly to be trashed two months later by an ARFer, no pride of building, just assemble and fly, crash then discard and get another ARF 😝🤬
I will never ever sell you an airplane ever again I told him 🧐

I worked at Sig from 1976-78 as a product engineer. I actually test flew the first Kavalier for Claude...the very one pictured on the box label. Flew great from the start, no changes required. What a great time for modeling back then....working at Sig was like going to model airplane school. I got to work with Claude, Mike Gretz, Maxey Hester, Hank Pohlman etc. and learned from all of them. Hard to believe it was nearly fifty years ago. There were 150 employees then, and the saw room ran 24-7 cutting balsa.
That had to have been a great experience and obviously a lot of good memories!
