Default Advice re: Giant Scale Linkage setup

I unserstand that all linkages should be 90 deg for best mechanical advantage. My question is if, for example, wing servos are aligned/mounted so that they DO NOT align 90 deg (perpendicular) to the aileron and its hinge line.....Do you make the push rod 90 deg to the hinge line and then have it approach and connect to the servo at the odd angle?...or do you make the push rod aling 90 to the servo and connect at the odd angle to the aileron? It the rod is set 90 to the aileron the servo horn can be moved so that it's center still gives full travel both directions...i hope this is clear? In both cases i understand that the clevis must be on the hinge line but it's the control rod alignment that i am asking about....wish i could draw some pics.....thanks
