Dragonfly or Hummingbird? ...
I am going to buy the Dragonfly R.T.F. or Hummingbird A.R.F.
I am already a helicopter pilot, but new to electric helicopters.
I like the idea of the ready built Dragonfly, but you usually need to final trim a heli anyway so putting together the hummingbird wouldn't be a huge pain.
While researching the pros and cons of each of these models I found that the Hummingbird has a 370 motor and the Dragonfly only has a 270. Is this a noticable difference? I am definately partial to performance. I also like the way the hummingbird looks. Especially the support struts on the tail boom. It makes it look sturdier and sportier like my gas heli.
One more question...
If I ever put the Bell 222 Airwolf body (you gotta love it) on it does the extra weight hurt performance much?
Any info on these matters would be greatly appreciated.
Hope all had a great Thanksgiving!
Richie

RE: Dragonfly or Hummingbird? ...
I bought my dragonfly from ebay and it came from Hong kong to Montreal canada in about 11 days!!! It was assemled well and I dont think I would have done a much better job myself. In any case these models are so simple that I dont really see any chalenge or fun in putting it together.
From all the pics I've seen on various web sites I am almost 100% certain that the hummingbird and the dragonfly are both made overseas in probably the same factory. Although the dragonfly has no tail boom supports I find it to be quite rigid. The motor on the dragonfly seems more than adequate. I imagine the more powerfull motor would just drain the batteries faster. The deal on century website is $264 and I think for that price you can get a hummingbird on ebay with, 2 batteries, training gear, extra main and tail rotor, a futaba radio with computer interface and simulator software. I am new to helicopters and now after a few days of trying to win control over my heli and a broken tail rotor, I regret not getting the package with the simulator. I think I may end up buying the simulator with another transmiter seperatley because the one that comes with both the stock hummingbird and dragonlfly has nowhere to plug in the interface.

Hope this helps
