Default Tulsa Thief

Guys in the Tulsa area, please be on the lookout for a Hanger 9 1/3rd scale Sukhoi. They broke into my explorer took the plane and all the equipment for it except the removable stabs. Good luck for them flying it any time soon. Wonder if Horizon would alert me to anyone wanting to buy a stab set for Tulsa? Called the hobby shop and informed them to be on the lookout. Will call the local flying fields to be on the lookout. How do I check ebay and RCbay? I will also watch the forums here.

Kevin:

Are there any special features such as extra decals or a unique hangar ding besides the stabs? I'll try to send your post to local clubs in case it flys north.
Hope you can get it back in one piece other than the insurance route.

I think stealing a mans car or his golf clubs/RC planes should be a hang'n offense.

You might want to call your insurance person.

Calling insurance was the second thing after calling the police. Calling the hobby shops and flying fields 3rd. Thank you for your interest. As far a special hangar rash there was as spot on the wing that had been repaired from a fall of a table, some minor damage inside the fuse where the landing gear mated to the fuse.

Sorry to hear about the plane. Seems like something like parts etching might be a good idea for our planes. After having our vehicles broken into in Atlantic City (while at work) at least 8 times, I know what your feeling! Had my sons Gameboy, case and about 10 games stolen. Sucks having to tell your 8 year old his stuff was stolen. Hope you get something back or get some PAYBACK! Good luck from the east side.

I know how you feel. I had some rented movies stolen out of my truck. I also had a leather coat stolen from me at work. I ran into that guy a few weeks later and I know he wishes he didn't touch my stuff.

If you find him, I hope you get retribution.

Putting your AMA number on plane is always a good Idea, unless the person that stole it was aware of what the AMA number was, they would just think it was a ID decal like real planes have. Then if you see your AMA number, no disbuting it's yours. Just make them small, and use on tail feathers.

Guys, thanks very much for you concern, it really is refreshing. I wrote my ama number and name on the inside of one of the wing root ribs. Putting them on the outside is a great idea. I will do that on my remaining airplanes. I did have a guy at the hobby shop remind me of the ama's loss provision on the insurance plan. I will make a claim tomorrow when I get the police report.

Good luck and please keep us posted. Your unfortunate experience and how you, the ama, and the authorities handle this, may just help someone else down the road.

Curious to hear if you get any satisfaction from AMA's insurance.
Better plan on your auto/homeowners policy.

Kevin, I am sure sorry to read this thread. We got our sukhoi's at just about the same time and I know you really enjoyed that plane. I hope you will get reimberced by you insurance co. or the ama policy. But even then it wont compensate you for your work putting the plane together and getting it set up. I just wanted to let you know that I am sure sorry for your loss.

Lee, thanks for your sentiments, my insurance company sucks so far. The only hope would appear to be some help from the ama.. Guys, they may be simple planes or expensive planes, but enjoy them while you can, cause you really never know how long they will be yours. I have never had a plane that gave me as much enjoyment as the Sukhoi. When its possible, if its possible, I will put the same plane together again.

Bill, thanks for the interest. I didn't know how to contact the guys at Bald Eagles. I think all of the local fields are covered now. I need to get in contact with the guys around Bartlesville. Again, thank you.

Homeowners Insurance or regular auto policy should cover the loss. I checked into this once. Sort of like having straight liability. I can drive my boys car and wreck it and i am out of luck but if somebody steals it and wrecks it, its covered.
