Good idea or BAD...
after reading/replying to this post http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_14...tm.htm#1402670 I was curious how many of you put name plates in your planes?? I have since day one, my instructor recommended it and it stuck with my through the years. I haven't lost a plane YET and hopefully never will, it's nice to know if someone finds it they will at least have the opportunity to return it. of course the flip side is if anything gets damaged they know right where to go, insurane will cover that...... hopefully.

5) I will not fly my model unless it is identified with my name and address or AMA number, on or in the model. Note: This does not apply to models while being flown
indoors.
Taken right from the AMA handbook located on the [link=http:////www.modelaircraft.org/templates/ama/]AMA website [/link] , take a look [link=http://www.modelaircraft.org/templates/ama/PDF-files/memanual03.pdf]here[/link].

RE: Good idea or BAD...
ok so it is a good idea back when I started I belonged to SFA, they did not require any name plates if I remember right..... I put them in anyway. stevo I never realized it was required by the AMA, to be honest I only browsed the handbook when I came back to the hobby several months ago, maybe i should have read the whole thing. I guess I should add my AMA#to all my name plates.

The only bit that you really nead to know is the AMA saftey code. Read and know the parts that pertain to you. Look over the rest of it, but don't spend to much time on it. Unless you are the Pres of the club or organizing or building a new club or field.

At first I was kinda lazy with putting in name plates. Then one day as I was putting the return address sticky on an envelope, it hit me. I just use one of return address labels and put it in the plane. I ussualy write my AMA # on it too. You put a return address on your 2$ card you send to your friend, why not on a $300+ plane.

I just use a permanent marker, and put my AMA number inside the fuselage, usually on the wing bolt block, or on the bulkhead at the leading edge. I don't worry about my name and address.....if one of mine gets away, it will be trash soon, and won't be returnable!
As noted in a post above, this is essential for your AMA insurance coverage, and that coverage is pretty important in this law-suit crazy society!
