RollerBlade rubber as Glider nose skid
I've been epoxying a 1/2" slice of rubber from a used roller blade wheel under the nose of my gliders and it's been working out great.
It replaces a lot of the lead normally used to balance.
It has just enough spring to deaden the fuse-crunching shocks that can happen when the radio malfunctions (or other external boo-boo occurs) and she comes in for "a bit too vigorous" a landing.
The outisde wheel shape is already about as streamlined and smooth shaped as you could ask for.
Between that and a little fiber glass in the forward fuse, and she'll take quite a beating.
