Interview with Dave Platt
I've started a series called "The Masters" and Dave Platt has agreed to do an interview for Airfield Models. Visitors can submit their questions to Mr. Platt until Dec 4. At that time I'll compile the questions and do the interview. It will be posted upon completion.
If you would like to participate, here's the link. Also, when you submit your question you can add your request for who to interview next.
Thanks
- Paul

RE: Interview with Dave Platt
Well, this takes the wind out of my sails.

It looks like our esteemed AMA already has a bunch of bio's. What I don't get is why they are going to charge us $4.00 a piece to see them. Why don't they just post them on their website????

Has anyone ordered one of these $4 Bio's, How detailed??
How many and what are the names of the models they built / designed in their career? Dates designed, released etc.
Designs that never made it? or in general what did they contribute in the way of Model Aircraft? Anyone know?
Paul don't give up, your Matsers is still a good venture

RE: Interview with Dave Platt
I sent an e-mail to the AMA Museum Curator. He said that they are working to get the interviews they have posted. In the mean time, I'm going to keep doing my thing.
2 more days to get you questions posted for Mr. Platt. I'd really like to have more questions for him before I submit this. All submissions are welcome.

RE: <span class=
Thanks everyone. I've gotten several positive e-mails so it seems like these interviews may be a good thing. When I first asked Mr. Platt to do it, he told me he would, but that he's busy and would like to limit it to about 10 questions. So after all the questions were in, I consolidated them and put them in order of what I thought was most relevant. I actually sent him all the questions, but cut off after the first ten and let him know that the rest were optional. Actually, they were all optional, if you know what I mean. It's not like he was being compensated for it.
What I really expected and was dreading was that he might give me one-sentence answers. I was very pleased that he took the time to give "real" answers to the questions.
That's the first time I ever interviewed anyone and I'm pleased with how it turned out. A lot of people posted specific questions about building issues and such. I didn't really feel that was the type of information that should be asked in these interviews so I updated the rules for submitting questions accordingly. I hope nobody feels offended by that and to those who did ask those types of questions, I would like to apologize because I added the rule after the questions were posted. It was certainly not my intent to make anyone look foolish and it was my mistake due to lack of experience with this.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who participated.
Last thing - when submitting questions, visitors are asked to recommend someone else to be interviewed. The list is kind of short right now - about 8 names, but at least one person came up more than once. I e-mailed his webmaster because his personal e-mail address isn't posted on the site. Hopefully the mail gets passed along to him and he will consent to an interview. If so, then I'll start a new thread announcing it so everyone can submit their questions for him.
Thanks again,
- Paul

Off topic, but hows your finger? My dad (who sees much worse things every day at the office) says that really should have been stitched up. The egg tip was interesting, I'm sure it won't be long before we get to test it out. Jordan
