Is this going to be a problem with my DA100?
I cut a hole for seeing in the carb, and getting to the choke, but some have said that its going to screw with the pressure to the carb and what not and possibly make it run uneven? Just checking with everyone else, otherwise the cowl is right against the screws that hold the carb on.. Just want to get a few more opinions..
Whatcha think?

Shouldn't be a problem..We ran a 220mph giant scale race plane with the carb sticking out farther that that...You might have to vent the hole in the top cover to the inside the fuselage to keep air from blowing in the diaphragm....

When I set my Cap up, I think I was talking back and forth with Joe Hunt. I was told that they had cut out the cowl around the carb and ended up with problems so I left my cowl covering the carb aera.
Since you have removed the cowl from that area, I think I would just fly the plane and see how the engine acts like it is.
Can't wait to see some video of that bird! Good luck!
Are the mufflers stock DA mufflers? looks like the cut-out for the left one is a lot larger then I have on my cowl?

You had quite the dillema, I've been there - on one hand the cowl is within 1" of the carb intake which is bad, and now your carb has all that swirly air to deal with. I'm with Stomper, damage is done, see what happens and then modify if required. Personally, I went the other route, left the cowl in tact and flew - I had no problems, odds are good niether will you. Good luck!

The race plane I mentioned above had one carb venturi halfway sticking out of the cowl and because of the stagger in the cylinders and a small cowl, the other was almost touching the cowl and completely inside..No problems.....

OK, the cowl would have been about 1/4" to 3/8 from the carb, I figured that would have been bad..
Ill run it and see, I made a plastic cover to put over the hole if I have to. These are the stock DA mufflers, and the holes give me about 1/4" of room around them

I too have run engines with the carb almost touching the cowl and had no problems. Its easy to then cut the cowl after flight testing if your low on rpm........anyway hindsight is crystal clear right?
You can do two things............intake tube of some sort and then vent the pressure hole into the fuz..........solder a brass tube into the hole about 1/4" long then run fuel tubing back into the fuz.
Doing one of the above may work doing both will work.
Kindest regards IanB

Thanks stratos, sounds like it goes both ways.. Ill fly it the way it is and see what happens. Very easy to get the choke and see in the carb right now! Hoping to fire it up this weekend, when it will fly? Good question, had a deal with someone on the stuff to get it in the air, but the stuff isnt sitting here and they have not mentioned it so who knows..[]
