Can I use epoxy on CA hinges?
I'm progressing along covering my Seniorita. I'm using transparent red mostly. I recall reading the grief others have reported here in RCU when they used CA to glue their canopy. As we all have seen, there is that little puff of smoke when the CA sets, and I'm concerned that the same would happen to the inside of my covering, making a cloudy mess. Somewhere here I read about using a drinking straw to pick up some epoxy then working the epoxy into the slot.
Can I use CA type hinges that came with the kit with epoxy glue instead?

I would say no way! I have used these hinges with transparent covering and it never fogged the inside but you also don't want to go crazy either with the thin CA, couple of drops on the top and bottom of the hinge and you're good to go.

CA hinges have an inhibitor impregnated into the hinge to make the thin CA set slower so it has time to get deep into the hinge. Also, it will be too difficult to get epoxy to go deep into the slot and the material of the hinge.
If you are worried bout the CA getting where it shouldn't, have you considered using Robart hinge points? They are easy to install and you can use epoxy or a special hinge glue that does not cloud and is let volatile than CA. I believe RCUniverse has a section that you can read to learn how to fit hinge points successfully.

RE: Can I use epoxy on CA hinges?
I've repaired a Dazzler that had it's CA hinges 'epoxied' in. Or was it soem otner glue. Anyways, the hingesm, win their small gap, seemed to push teh glue out of teh slot.
(I won't mention the amount of sawdust under the covering though.. )
I would say no, use just enough, 3-5 drops per side.

Well now! [X(] Four out of four say NO! OK... thank you everyone for your input. I guess I'll stick with plan 'A' and try CA glue with the CA hinges. I've already cut the slots for them. Just have to finish covering and go for it. This question was just a double thought (aka: brain fart) thinking ahead of myself.

There is a great description on how to correctly install ca hinges in this forum. Do a search on MinnFlyer and find it, it's worth the effort.
His description should be pinned to the top of this forum, IMHO
