converting Dave Brown engine mount
I want to minimize vibrations, thus converting existing (Dave Brown) engine mount (already installed) to a soft(er) mount using rubber fittings. [sm=thumbup.gif]
my question is: where can I get the rubber items needed for the home-made "soft" instalation? (couldn't find anything at Home Depot!?)
I don't mind the engine being moved forward a bit in the nose (due to the rubber inserts) and I am planning on using a nose ring (to support the engine).
Any pics or schematic dwgs would be apreciated as well as a list of specific parts needed
thanks, Vasek

RE: converting Dave Brown engine mount
There is a thread on making a home-made "Hyde mount"... I believe in the Pattern section.
Essentially: 2 disks of wood, faced with rubber and placed face to face. Then you slip a section of tight fitting inner tube over them.
(of course you have to pre-drill it and mount the engine mount before glueing the tube on...)
Then you need a nose-ring to prevent the engine from wobbling side-side. This is affixed to the cowl or the firewall if the cowl is not strong enough to support it. (there are also threads on how to make the nose-rings for both cases.)
After reading up on how to make the Hyde mount... you may decide to buy one. Its not quite as simple as I made it sound.
