Lustrekote and 20/20 Powermaster fuel?
My question is simple. Has anyone experienced failure in the Lustrekote finish due to higher than 15% nitro fuel content? Building a Seduction Freestyle with a YS63, which requires me to use Powermaster 20/20 fuel. I have to paint the cowl and also the wing color pattern. The wing will get blasted with fuel for sure due to the location of the exhaust. Thus, my other question is, if Lustrekote will fail, does anyone know a way to fuelproof Lustrekote to withstand 20% nitro? Thanks for the input.

I have a couple of planes that are running 30/20 in a YS. The Lustercote does fine. Keep in mind that the problem is raw fuel, not the exhaust. If you get raw fuel on it, wipe it off right away.

On the side of the Lustrekote can it states that it is fuel proof up to 15% nitro after 24 hours. Exhaust alone will not have that much nitro. J_R is right about wiping spilled raw fuel off as quickly as possible.

Get someone in your club or a body shop to give it a quick spray of PPG 2021 clear on top, then never worry about it ever again. It will withstand raw fuel and exhaust no problem.
