The field in the photo is the Cascade Family Airpark located in Snohomish, WA.

It is a private airfield with excellent facilities and is set up for both models and full scale aircraft. The membership is $200 per year and you can fly your models or your full scale aircraft for the same membership cost!!

You can see the Cascade mountains in the background (my back is to the East).

The Edge I have was built by Frank Pellegrini a couple of years ago. It is a perfect flying model and sure makes me look better that I am in the air.

Visitors and non-members can fly at the field as long as they are with a member. We try very hard to keep the field private.

Yesterday and today is an IMAC event and a few full scale planes are doing demos. I believe there is a full scale Edge, Extra, Sukoi, and a Stearman.

If you want to check out the field, give me a shout sometime when your going to be in the area. I will be happy to show you the place and fly a bit with you.

I think a fly-in would be a possibilty, but it would have to be cleared with the owners of the property.

By the way, the owner is Harold Hansen. Harold owns the Taylorcraft that Hanger Nine has now made an ARF model of. I believe it's red and white.

I think I saw that one at the Nationals last year. Does it have a removeable rudder? I want to get a 40% Edge and set it up that way so that it will fit in my Ford Explorer.

If that is the one, do you like the removeable rudder and how has it held up?

Give us some of the details, engine, weight, likes etc.

Here is a shot of my 40% 3W 300S with a 3W 150. Weighs around 40 pounds without fuel and flies real s m o o t h! Bigger is really different after flying other things for the past 27 years. This season was the first for large scale and gas for me and I'm having alot of fun. I had the opportunity to do it so I did. I also have a kit version of the Aeroworks 33% Edge 540T with an older 3W 80 in it and like that alot too. The Edge was my first and this is my second ever gasser. If you can ever find a way to beg, steal and borrow, try this stuff, it's great. Take care_bob

Yes, this is the model you saw. It was built by Frank Pellegrini and does have the removable rudder. In fact, Frank drives the Ford Explorer also.

I have a 12 trailer and don't need to remove the rudder anymore, but Frank never had a problem with it. He used a piece of 256 rod with a 90 bend on the bottom and fed it up threw the hinges from the bottom. It seems pretty easy.

Ok, the model weighs in at right about 38 pounds. I have installed a 3W150 engine that has about 100 hours on it. It's broke in and runs great!! I am using a Dave Brown 3-blade spinner and an Airmodels 3-blade Carbon Prop.

I also have had a 27% Midwest Extra and a 36% Aeroworks Edge which I sold to pay for this model. I am building the 29% Aeroworks Edge right now and will install a 3.2 Brison in that one. I need the smaller wingspan for use at the small local fields.

Say, your 3W looks great!! How do you like the engine??
I have the carberator air device attached on mine to keep the air movement to a minimum around the intake. Don't know if it really helps or not!
