What does your field cost?
Hello:
I'm looking for some reference information on what your clubs field cost are.
Here's what I need to know:
Does your club rent or lease its field?
Do you rent or lease from a private party, local or federal government, or other?
What does your club pay for its annual fee, i.e rent or lease?
How many years is your agreement for, and is it renewable at the end of the term?
Are there any stipulations about monies your club needs to spend on improvment across your contracted term?
How many acres in size is your flying site, and approximately how close is the next property owner or inhabbited structure?
Does your club have a field operations and trainig guide for new field users?
I know its a lot to ask, but our club currenlty has a great site and I am looking to ensure that we retain it. This information is use full for any club, and it does not matter how long its been in existence.
You can either post this information here, or email me directly @ [email protected].
Anyone who is interested in the results of my findings, send me an email and I'll forward you the results.
Thank you for taking the time to furnish this; flying sites are becoming a great item of contention with governments.
Jamie

If you are lucky, youcan lease from Army Corps of Engineers beside a resevoir. That would make field rental fee darn cheap. (ours is the nominal $1 a year) But even with that low lease cost.. you have runway maintenance costs, field improvements... and anything else that you add (electric and water ar nice) your club has to pay for. Field improvements on leased land.. whent he lease is lost the improvements stay anyway. (or they sometimes make you PAY to rip out the runway and the shelters...)
Some areas... finding a cheap lease will be virtually impossible. I saw a club that NEEDED to charge $350 per year to be able to make thier lease payments. (they had 100 members.. and this was in 1980! There is a Shopping Mall at thisr old field location now...)
