They say the good one always comes back for more!
I built this thing for a start out plane when I started flying again 2 years back and well sold it after about 6 months to buy something more challenging to my regret. I've been nagging the new owner to sell it back to me and last night I had success!!! I am looking quite badly for homes for all my 46s and I really liked the way this thing flew. I do not know if it is at all 3D capable but seriously doubt it. I am just a little curious if any of the bros has ever seen or flown it. Maybe someone has some advice on setup and so on for me? It does do a really nice knife edge and flies very stable. I've just never tried a harrier or anything with it when I had previously because I didn't know about these things.
The new(old) owner didn't fly it at all after he got it from me and I decided that the bird just couldn't die from hanger rash. The load down is that it is very heavy....and I will be working on that this week to get it flying by friday. There is a pile of lead on the tail and maybe moving one or two servos into the tail will fix it. I can also remove the spats and score at least a hundred grams there. Maybe a little lighter wheels and so on could also be considered. The little cowling thingy covering the crank case opening in the fuz could also be chucked away. I got some ideas to get it to a nice weight. Ok the full load down.
Plane is a Extra-Slim (I think it is a Ripmax kit. It doesn't really say anywhere)
Wingspan: 48 inches (1219mm)
Length: 45 inches (1143mm)
Engine: OS Max .46 Fx
Weight now: Just over 4.5lbs (I'm sure it can make it lose 150grams or more)
I took a couple of pics, but I have to say the quality is REALY poor! I only have a cell phone to take them with but thought you guys will at least be able to figure what the plane looks like a little bit. I put my 9X down here and there to try and get some idea of sizes. Please if anyone has anything they can add about the bird do so? I will still keep and fly it as hard as my fingers skills would allow...it really did fly fun! Oh on a little technical note. The wing's leading edge is straight like an edge and only tapers at the trailing edge. And personally I think the rudder is a weee bit small. That can be a quick fix though.

Lol...You guys telling me this thing is a white elephant or something? Looks like me gots something fairly unique....Oh wait maybe everybody knows it's a POS?
Got all the gear in last night...Got the weight down to where I want it as well. The plane is now sitting at 1900grams. And I checked the CG and she's WAY tail heavy. Which is good because tonight I can start removing most of the brick hanging by the tail! Woohooooo!! I'm sure I can save another 50 grams with all the lead i'm going to take off. So that means i'm shooting for something around 4 pounds and a couple of ounces right?

RE: They say the good one always comes back for more!
Guys this thing didn't work out the way I thought it would. There is still a few minor things I would like to do and need some advice please. I would like to move the rudder and elevator servos into tail as they are currently in the wing. But now my problem is that there is nothing provided for the leads. I am curious on the EF Edge idea that I heard they are running the leads on the bottom of the fuz. I can something similar right? Cosmetically it will look pretty bad but I'm sure there is a way? Yelp!
I was thinking of just checking the plans and cutting holes in the tail and sticking on a little ply servo mount. But then where to with the leads? I can tape them to the bottom of the fuz? Maybe cover them on with some monocote? Can I protect them with something while i'm at it? I could of course just tape them with some packaging tape to the side of the fuz but I know better than that. It is a pretty profile in my eyes and I don't want to ruin it with something stupid like this. Please help?
