One piece wing or 2 pieces wings
Hi Chip
I have to decide between one piece wing or two piece wings on the same plane.
What would you decide if you we're in my position and why?
Do you think that two piece wings has any advantage concerning aerodynamic charectaristics? Do you think that two wings piece can save some mixtures that could be necessary with one piece wing?
Thanks in advance

A 2 piece wing allows for easier transport, and adjustability. Aerodynamically I have never been able to tell any difference

There could be structural advantages to the 2 peice wing. The structure of the fuselage is not interupted with a 2 panel solution. Only a small diameter hole for the joiner. So you could think of it as trading fuselage weight for wing weight... remember... there is less wing panel now! Yes... there is the added weight of the joiner, but it may be more then offset by the reduced wing area. The 1 panel solution kinda results in more volume of structure... wing structure within fuselage structure. One big plus I see to a 2 panel system is with many designs, there is a top hatch, and the wing can be assembled to the fuselage while "On Gear"... nice to not have to flip over a 30% or bigger plane!!
