Default Servo Jitter

I just picked up a new plane - a Fun One - 40 sized Sport It looked good, and was built well.

The first day at the field I went through all of the preflights - No problems.

As I was tuning the engine I noticed the right aileron was Jittery, with 1/2-3/4" of uncontrolled movement. This was only happening when the engine got up to 7500 rpm and above.

Not wanting to loose the plane on it's maiden flight I when home to look for answers. After much head scratching I noticed that the Throttle cable (wire) was in contact with the side of the cylinder. I theorized that it was picking up static and working like an antenna which interfered with the closest servo.

To solve this; I added a ball linkage to the throttle arm - which now gave me a 1/8" separation between the Engine and the cable.

The next day the jitter was gone and I had some great flying!

Happy Landings;
Bruce

one thing though electricity doesn't exactly conduct plastic unless you have some of those really heavy duty servo arms. you could of also just made a ground to it

It's a classic case of metal-to-metal contact causing interference on your radio. It's something I always look for before I fly a new plane. You did the smart thing by not flying and investigating the cause.
