Default DA 50 mounting

After reading several posts, the DA manual and the wild hare manual along with the www.edge540T.com site, I have a question about the 2.5" standoffs that come with the DA motor. If you have to mount it with a 3.25" standoff, wouldn't it be just as easy to make a 3/4" wood spacer and then use the supplied standoffs?

Please let me know if I am missing something.

Danny745,

Could you show me a close up of your 5/16" rod extensions? I don't quite follow how you're doing it. I'm getting ready to mount a DA-50 in my Edge and will need to extend the stock standoffs also. TIA

here you go ..you should be able to zoom in they are good q..
plane flys grrreeeaaaattttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you can see that the spinner is about 1\8 away in stead of 1\16//
i think it helped w cg.i used a 1\4 scale diggi servo in the pullpull tray and batterys just had to be moved up to the cg now its perfect harrier waterfalls, knife edge spins and loops it dose everything and very stable..i had one of they best pilots at my feild fly it to help me with low rates for imac and make sure the high was high enough..he really liked it it was very stable ..he flys a 40% carden he built..great pilot....
thanks to rob for the shake down..........

Danny, Thanks for the pics. I got it figured out now. 5/16 rod COUPLINGS. Duh, kind of slow some times. I hope me DA-50 comes this week. Can't wait to crank it up.

I bought some couplers, but I didn't like the small surface area fitting against the aluminum stand offs. I was too afraid the vibration would get to it after a while. I just glued some 5/8" thick wood blocks to the fire wall that were 7/8" x 1 1/8". The weight was about the same as the couplers, but lots more surface area. So far after 7 flights, no problems. New DA-50 turned my Mejzlik 22 x 10 at 7300 rpms right out of the box. Motor cranked up on 2nd flip after priming. Couldn't be happier with it.

Glad to hear they haven't loosened up on you. I'll keep that in mind on my next one.
