Default Comp-ARF 2.3m Rudder Cable Exits

Hey guys,

For those of you who have built the 2.3m Extra, did you find the positions indicated in the manual for the rudder cable exits to be spot on? If not, where should they go??

Thanks,
Mark

Hmmm, what do you mean Mark? Rudder cables? If that is what you mean, mine were way off because I have my rudder servo way up front and the geometry is not stardard. It was a drag to get right but I worked it out.

Sorry Joe, not the clearest post I've written. Should be clearer now.

Also, I guess I should say that this question is for those who have gone with the stock setup.

Rgds,
Mark

Mark,
I always lay the cable slots out for my self. I didn't rely on the instructions, but as I recall they were pretty close....

Hi Rick, can you give a description on how to plot the rudder cable exits? That was the most lost I felt during the build.

They were way off on the 2.6 extra I know that. The way I have done it before is to mark the bottom of the fuse where the rudder servo arms are at and use a straigh edge or string to the rudder control horns and mark the verticle portion on the side of the fuse. Then mark the side of the fuse where the rudder servo horn is and intersect the lines and WHAMO! you got it. I should have done that instead of trusting there measurements. If your gonna cross the wires inside just keep that in mind when your pulling your line.
Hope this is not to hard to understand.

Tim.

Hi Mark,
Yep, i made the mistake of carefully marking out the exact dimensions from the instructions and the exits are a fair way out.(stock set up) I read later that those dimensions are actually for the 3.0m model. No biggy,, will just fill and redo as Tim suggests. Disappointing though from such a great model.

I use masking tape on the sides and bottom of the fuse to mark intersecting points with a straight edge and make the cuts. Works great.

Thanks guys,

I'm not building a 2.3m myself. I have a friend who is and he doesn't have a PC so can't get to RCU - he wants to know where to cut the slots and "would rather just have the dimensions for the correct slots"

So, anyone willing to do the 2.3m equivalent of the following photo??...

Its not that simple, each set up is different. Servo location, servo arm width, etc...Grab some masking tape, a marker and a 3-4 foot long straight edge - measure it twice and cut it once - good luck.

I appreciate that - was looking for those who have built the model exactly "as per the manual" to have a quick check. Should be the same each time if the instructions are followed I guess?
