Tiger 60
I have a Saito 91 FS that I would like to put in a Tiger 60. Several older members of my club, with much more experience, have indicated that they thought it was to much engine for the plane and suggested a 70 size FS. The plane is rated up to a 80 size four stroke. I'm not into 3D and am looking at for a basic plane with some acrobatic capabilities. Thanks in advance for any advice.

use the 91 the guys that told you that are 99% chance they fly 10 pound cubs on os 40 fs's

I agree with prophanger. I flew one of our club member's Tiger 60s with a .90 4-stroke and it was perfect. I liked it so much I'm thinking of putting one together this winter for my daughter. Well, OK, for me.

[8D]I have an os 91fs II surpass four stroke in mine, its set up as a taildragger. It flies great, not overpowered at all. It takes off in about 10feet. I can cruise at half throttle all day long. it sounds good, runs good, is fairly areobatic. It balanced great with the four stroke also. put it in and enjoy it!! Butch in Niagara Falls

What size fuel tanks are you using with those big motors? That for what I know they like to eat fuel. And there isn't a whole lot of room in the tiger 60 for a big tank.

A 91 running at reduced throttle settings will use less fuel and make a whole lot less noise than a 70 running at full throttle. If you can learn throttle control, the ONLY reason NOT to use a bigger engine would be extra weight.
In your case though, a 91 four stroke weighs less than the 61 two stroke that the Tiger 60 was designed for. Putting a 70 in that airplane would be a decision you would surely regret.

I put a Saito FA-100 in mine and it is great! I squeezed a 14 oz tank in and am currently getting 9 minute flights, although I have less than 2 gallons of fuel through it, and am still running very rich.
