RE: my first rc
HOLD ON A MINUTE! If you are going to pay that much money4 a piece of sheyat car. Youd might as well spend your money on a solar powered flashlight! BUY AN XMOD FROM RADIOSHACK! XMODS ARE THE BEST ELECTRIC RC CARS! They go about 15 mph with a stock motor in it. But if you go to --> www.atomicmods.com and buy an ion lithium battery pack, it can go over 40 mph! there is proof of it! Theres a video on atomicmods.com! dude if you love sooping up cars and you dont have alot of money. buy an xmod. You can customize them so much. Heres a link to the pic of mine--> www.jakescoolstuff.zoomshare.com
and heres the xmods website--->[img][/img] Heres a pic here, I think it worked, if not, visit my website. GET AN XMOD!

RE: my first rc
did you get the batts with the car? if so, I'm guessing you got some reall cheapos dumped on you....
you'll want to start getting some more packs anyway... I personally like having 8-10 packs per car... it's more expensive that way, but you always have a fresh pack.

RE: my first rc
Are the plugs those big white tamiya ones? if so then theres your answer. The tamiya style plugs suck (in my opinion )
Put some deans connectors on it, they'll solve your problem.
As for the batts., you can try cycling them, but if they havent been used in a long time, then they are probobly toast and will need replaced.

Towerhobbies.com ships to canada, but i dont know what the shipping fees would be. They have the deans connectors, and an assortment of batteries.
For good cheap batteries, go look at maxamps.com. They have the GP3300's for 27 bucks! Dont know if they ship to canada though.
There's all kinds of online hobby shops that have the connectors/batteries, hobbypeople.net, horizonhobby.com, towerhobbies.com, etc.

no worries kiddo.. I wouldn't have expected too much out of used batteries... the cool thing is you got a great car that's just itchin for you to do whatever upgrades you want...
After you get set with a few good battery packs... you'll start looking at higher performance ESCs and motors...
...just like jakjr's signature says..."Its not a hobby until it starts costing money"

RE: my first rc
Have you tried cycling them? Just charge them, and run them down, charge them, run them down...
Just do it every day a few hours straight (at least through 5 cycles), Ive got some old packs here that Ive bene working on for a few months (not straight though, just here and their). They started out only holding like 300-500mah, but now theyre holding like 1000+mah (which is a little over half their capacity).

RE: my first rc
good point jakjr... cycling can really help...
I'm also wondering what kind of charger you are using?
Some chargers have a cycling function built in....
Sometimes older peak chargers chargers will have false peaks, thus only giving partial charges and only a few minutes run time.... you may want to look into that too...

RE: my first rc
Another thing with the battery problem is you're using a timed charger. It won't allow you to get the best punch out of your batteries since it might only charge halfway. Look for a peak detection charger. Go to greathobbies.com to look at prices in canadian dollars. They are in Canada, so you don't need to pay customs. If you are good with soldering, then by all means switch to deans. if not stick to the tamiya plugs.
