honeybee2 - worst heli in the world???
Could it be that the honeybee 2 is the worst heli ever made? I don't know. All I know is what I've experienced so far.
I bought the thing. Right out of the box, I plug the batteries in the transmitter, cut it on - I hear a sizzle and smoke pours out. Switch off. Repeat again. Third time, no smoke.
Ok, so the transmitter is fried, but good news, while I wait on my replacement transmitter I can practice hovering because it still controls the heli from a max of 3 to 4 feet away. Well, during practice, I figure out that the swash area in these helis are really messed up. Half the time, the plate comes apart, and you get negative pitch when you want positive. Even in 3d mode, most of the time, in negative pitch, you get negative, then in positive pitch... you get negative. That's really nice.
On my third or so test "flight," I plug the provided li-poly into the heli, and the circuit board immediately releases a big puff of smoke. Now it seems to be fried, and the main motor won't turn at all.
My theory - this heli appears to be a $200 pile of junk. A rc heli that won't fly, and if by some miracle it did, you better stay within 3 or 4 feet of it. Sweet.

I am also satisified with my HB2. Like all things, especially mass produced ones, a few lemons get to the consumer. Sounds like you got one of those lemons, so sorry.

RE: honeybee2 - worst heli in the world???
My Honey Bee 2 worked semi-OK first day or two... Came with 8.4 volt Ni-Mh battery (Not enough power to get off ground)!!! Ordered 11.1 volt Li-Po battery as recommended in instructions. Worked Semi-OK (It got off the ground for about 15 minutes of hover & slow flight, but experienced occasional radio interference.)
Last bit of interference forced me to land. After landing, before motor shut down, more interference caused motor to rev & full right cyclic and roll onto its side..
Result??? Dinged blades & slightly bent main shaft.
Today, I re-ground main blade tips to bing back into balance, and tried while holding in hand. Seemed to work fine.
Tonight, I couldn't sleep, so took Honey Bee 2 out under street light to fly. Couldn't get green light on 4-in-1 controller. Had full servo control, but neither blade drive motor would respond.
Now, I still can't get drive motors to respond. Never saw smoke, or smelled anything unusual, but now neither blade drive motor will respond to anything.
New 4-in-1 controller is on order. If received in reasonable time frame, will post back if new controller completely solves problem.

Wow. You should make a movie out of that. Something about a series of unfortunate events.
A few comments: If there is that much going worng, what has the vendor said? Did you talk to them?
After the transmitter failed, why did you continue flying? While these are hobby helicopters, they are still hazardous and should be treated with care.
After the swash plate separated, why did you continue flying?
If the all in one board smoked, it is usually the FET that goes. This can be replaced by someone with competent soldering skills. Just a thought.

The vendor has been really good so far. They said if I ship the transmitter and board back, they'll replace it.
As I said in the first post, even though the transmitter was fried, it still controlled the heli from a few feet away; plenty to practice sliding it around on the floor.
As for the swash plate separation, it's a bad design from what I've been reading. It separates easily and regularly, but slides back together with ease. It's still VERY frustrating though.

By the way, anybody have any ideas on a fix for the swash (keeping it together), other than buying a new one?

Clean the mating surfaces, and carefully apply a very small amount of Superglue or other CA. Press together. Be extremely careful not to get glue in the bearing.

Don't let the smoke out, it never seems to want to go back in! Sorry to here about your heli though! Chin up dude rebuild your heli and change electronics " 4in1 board JUNK" if not now it will be, if one goes it all goes (gyro, rec. exc.)+ knock off tx. Don't give up!![sm=confused.gif]
