Default Lanier Laser 1/4 200 engine ques.

Hello all,

I am currently building a Lanier 1/4 scale Laser 200 ( wingspan 72") . I also recently aquired a older Super Tigre 3000 ( says Made in Italy -stamped on case ). Is this engine recommended for this airplane, or is it too much?
I read through some posts, couldn't really draw a conclusion on some of the recommendations. Would a ST 2300 be better? I don't want overkill on this bird - and the engine sure feels heavy!
I box says .60 - to 1.08 and I believe the ST 3000 is more like a 2.0 size engine.
Has anybody used this combination, should I shy away from it?

Thanks all

That may overpower or change the cg but getting ^ thier with the displacment makes the engines heavy. Some people think overpowering is just enough! Me I wouldnt use it for the sole purpose that it is a st engine and being to big. I Would recomend a small gas engine if it has a sliding firewall or you can mount the battery (s) back.

hey i got one of those kits also and not to impose dont know much about supertigers and i am looking at going with small gas motor looking at possibly the morris hobbies 1.6 just for the economics end of it. also i have been told you want to beef up the landing gear area of this plane or it will crack out. i also figured as far as cg was concerned that probably will modify fuse so that i can put the battery and servos in the tail section if need. keep us posted what you figure out and have fun building and flying

I have this plane with a ST 2300. bison muffler with one outlet plugged and onboard glow driver. At 11lb12oz with a 16x8 Mejlik carbon prop the performance is great. It has the servos in the front with pull-pull on the rudder and enclosed elevator linkage. The 3000 would be awfully heavy. And not sure you would be able to get any ground clearance with a proper sized propellor. Mine with an 18 inch prop is marginal.
