Default AirHobbies 3.0 and RCS 44 twins

Has anyone had experience with these twins.

How's the power?

How's the quality of the engine?

How's the vibration level?

Is the weight as advertised 4.0 for the
Air Hobbies twin and 4.2 for the RCS44?

I'm ready to purchase a twin ASAP, and I was
leaning towards the AirHobbies.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
myersflyers

Be carefull buying these. Machining is terrible. Believe that exhaust system as motormount also questionable due excess heat on firewall.(my opinion). Warranty only good if you have not touched the engine at all. Don't loosen anything before you may want to send it back for refund. Restocking fee 15% under the poor machining situation also not worth the paper its written on and exorbitant. Had to send engine back for refitting of crankshaft. Parcel came back to me with broken fin on One Cyl.-head and bend sparkplug. AH wanted to fix it only after sending engine a 2nd. time.Have scratched it now. Mrpip

If you are willing to consider other brands, take a hard look at the YW48, a 48cc twin of excellent quality (IMO)---4.0 lbs. including muffler & ign. module---I love mine!---

The RCS 44 is not that powerful of an engine and it is a fairly heavy engine.
As I recall, the one I had turned a 20 x 8 prop around 6700 rpms. It ran smooth and idled smooth. It also started well. Some individuals have had problems with the plugs blowing out. The material in the cylinders seem really soft aluminum. A helicoil has to be installed in the plug hole to repair.

In contrast, my 3w-48, also a twin, turns a 20 x 10 around 7800 rpms and weighs the same as the RCS-44. If you are considering a YS-48, do a search because some individuals have had problems with service.

Hope this helps

Elson

I have the RCS44B2. After installing helicoils in both heads and getting the third ignition from RCS it runs pretty good now. It flies my 1/3 scale fly baby bipe nicely. 6000 rpm with a Master Airscrew 20-8.

I didn't run the one I had here, but based on the performance of the 3W24 and now the new 28 it will be GREAT....3W got it right on these....New castings, more compression...I am impressed...(about time)
