Plans for Test Stand for Gassers?
I need a test stand big enough to handle upto a 100 CC engine.
I ended up being gifted with a big box full of weed wacker parts , as well as a couple of Quadras that look like they spent about a year burried in a swamp.
I did a search here on RCU and found lots of pictures, but no actual plans.
Does anyone have any drawings they would share?
Thanks,
Mark D.

two things that you MUST DO with any stand you come up with......
It must be securely mounted to some imoveable object and i mean immoveable
You must be able to stand behind the engine whilst running.....you cannot out run a prop or parts of said prop once liberated from engine and in a free flight mode

RE: Plans for Test Stand for Gassers?
My Black and Decker Workmate test stand is not immoveable, and it works just fine with 3w 150cc twins mounted on it...I took the top off and replaced it with a piece of 2x12..Another piece of 2x8 is bolted vertically to that, on the side with the step on the front..Small engines up to 100 cc are easy...150 cc engines require a little care, start at idle then go behind the Workmate to hold it to run up the engine..A fuel tank is bolted to the top....
It folds up for storage..I am on the second one in 18 years, the first lasted about 12 years, finally got too loose at the joints...I took it to all the major IMAA flyins I attended when I started my business...[8D]

This is what I have come up with so far. It could be made from (2) 2x4x8', 5/32" steel flat stock and some scrap ply.
I had thought to anchor it to the ground with 4 stakes made from 2 ft. lengths of steel rebar with large washers welded onto one end as a cap.
The small circle is 22" in diameter ,the large 30" (a bit on the optomistic side!!). I will probably add a small shelf to hold tank, baterries, etc.

RE: Plans for Test Stand for Gassers?
this will hold the largest stuff
It is all arc welded from 2" angle iron
the table is at 36" and it is 18" wide
Each engine for testing is mounted to 3/4" hard plywood and bolted to the upright and table end.
You stand in front to start it then move back for running/testing
Un engines up to 100cc - it will remain in position.
On really bigstuff -like the ZDZ210 on pipes - someone has to hold on.
In winter - he gets frozen stiff--
