Default WHAT PAINT TO USE????

I am nearing completion my current project (a Top-Flite T34) and plan to glass and paint the plane. I dont have any painting equipment, so i guess its spray cans.....I Have narrowed it down to Orange and white or the same as on the box, Yellow and Green. I would like to get some suggestions on what paints, other than the usual hobbie paints, can be used and any info you may have as to fuel proof and dry time..... THANX javascript:void(AddText('[8\|]'))

Default RE: WHAT PAINT TO USE????

Dupli-Color TRUCK AND VAN paint is an ACRYLIC lacquer. While the color selection is limited, the paint is fuel proof. If you decide to use Rustoleum paints, you need to be aware that not all of the Rustoleum paints are fuel proof.

If you are in doubt, clear coat the paint. For clear coating you can use LusterKote clear (not one of my favorites), Ultracote clear or a water base polyurethane. MinWax has the water base poly in spray cans (they have a blue lable).

I suggest you should seriously investigate using the water base polyurethane method for glassing the plane. While it only has about 60% of the strength of a resin glassing, it is only 1/2 the weight of a resin job and, IMHO, a lot easier to apply and sand.

If you are going to be doing much building/painting, you should consider getting some spray equipment. You can get a very nice finish with spray cans, but it can get expensive with spray cans also.
