Savage towers
Hey guys
The rear shock tower has finally given in. I am looking into replacing Fr and Rr with Alluminum. Should I go with GPM or INTEGY or settle for the NOVA piece? The price for the NOVA is up there but I figure you get more for what you pay for. Your opinions pls. The turck is set up for hardcore bashing.

RE: Savage towers
WHat about the Fastlane Machine shock towers? I have their Stampede shock tower on my Pede and they are very well made. I will be getting their shock towers for my Savage sooner or later too.

RE: Savage towers
If truck is truly setup for hardcore bashing
then I would go with the stock plastic towers.
Plastic absorbs hard or soft shocks or impacts
better than alum. I.E. if hit to hard they break
therefore not bending or breaking the chassie.
The plastic absorbs the energy from a hard hit
not transferring it to the chassie. Alum parts
are harder and therefore do not absorb energy
but transfer it into chassie and possibly breaking
something more costly.
Think of it like this would you sooner get
hit over the head with a nerf bat or an aluminum bat ???

In some places though, aluminum is a benefit. On my Pede I noticed cracks in the shock towers where the screws for the shocks screw in. I also have aluminum braces under the chassis. I noticed adding those 4 peices improved it's handling considerably, likely due to to it making it stiffer but also leaving things flexible enough to take hits without bending or breaking anything. I would advise against aluminum A arms though, I think the flexible plastic used for the stock arms is a good thing for bashing. For shock towers on a basher, I think aluminum is a real benefit provided it's well made.
