Default H9 extra or WH extra?

Hey guys, After two years my Sukhoi bit the dust sunday. I was looking for a replacement. I was thinking of the H9 1/3 Extra330s and the WildHare extra 260. I have flown the H9 before so I know a little about it, but what can you tell me about the WH 260. Anybody fling one yet?

What kind of weights can I expect of either plane. I know the Sukhoi was a little heavier than the extra or edge. My Sukhoi was 24.5 lbs with carbon gear and wing tube. I will be using a BME 100 and li-pos.

Thanks,

I have both, the H-9 and the WH, both with ZDZ-80s' tough call, I think I like the WH a little better, It tracks better flyes a little lighter, and seems to be a little better built. If I had to pick one over the other, I would go with the WH. Just my $0.02.

I have now several reports of the WH Extra 260 with ZDZ-80 coming in under 22 lbs, one at 21 lbs. 9 oz. weighed on a UPS scale. Add to that it built quite rugged.

Of course I'm biased but these are facts that you should have before deciding.

H Wayne,

I have one of the WH 260s that I will eventually put a ZDZ-80 in when I get sick of flying the Edge it's in now.

Do you have any pics of how you mounted your motor? It looks like it's gonna require a lot of surgery to mount it.

Thanks.

two rules in comparing --
wing loading and power loading
All the rest is simply a matter of choice in how it looks and how well it's done and $$$ etc..
When someone says"don't worry about the weight"--
It is like a car salesman saying "don't worry about how you are financing it "------
In this case - a very close power/weight - so choose as you may.
pick an engine which turns over 6000 on a 26x10 and go for either one.

If your asking for a report on the H9 Extra with DA it was so uneventful I was tickled to death. 1 click elevator, Did absolutely nothing to the DA and it purred. Flew slow and very gentle on low rates with expo as per the book..30% I think. Havent weighed it but it flies light.
Landing was uneventful. Da only required 1/4 throttle most of the time. Mine was suprisingly straight when I checked. Only problem on install was the wing tube was loose and came out of the fuse.
4x 8411s in wings, rest are 5945s.
Servos in the tail Stock location and nothing added to balance on the money. 2 x Relions in the center and Reciever. Nicad ignition up front with the motor. NX 27/10 Pro prop.

Kelly , I have the H9 extra 330/DA100 that you probably flew ( Bob W. plane from Apex Hobbies) . Its heavy at 26 1/2 lbs , no carbon, no smoke ,2 nimh , 1nicad bat paks, 10 servos . Could be lightened some , but I doubt that you come in as light as the WH. Flys great though.
Sounds like your Suk was pretty light . Have you thought about the H9 Edge? Which probably will be a closer match for the WH's weight. Then again with the WH your less likely to have five other identical planes at the field which is nice . Sorry to hear about your Suk.

One other thing you might be able to get the H9 edge for $600 as they do run specials , (great price) Check with Bob on that.
Robert Vess flys the crap out this plane!

Thanks Jay, I've never been a big fan of the Edge 540. Who know maybe it might grow on me. I didn't like the sukhoi when I got it but it was to good a deal to pass up. I quickly fell in love with it. I took nearly 2 1/4lbs off the Sukhoi with carbon and a holesaw. there was very little wood left in the motorbox and canopy area. 100 flights or more with no probs. when the left wing tip hit the ground the plane exploded before the rest of the plane touched.

Yes it was the extra you have that I flew, and the bad thing was it flew better with a strange plane and radio, than my Sukhoi did

AndyT and I had to cut in the battery and found the ground wire had came unsolderd. I was almost landed when it went dead on me, just rolled to the left. Boom!

Ya'll don't fill too bad, The Sukhoi had over 200 flights and was flown pretty hard. I was looking something else but not so soon. Ouch!

BTW I mounted the tail on a board and put it on my nephews wall. When he saw it he ran to his brothers room to see if the rest of it was on the other side ( he's 7) that was funny!

Does anybody know the cowl width on the wildhare?
