The only differences are internal with the exception of the cooling head, so it will drop right into the maxx.

I put one in mine and it droped right in It's pretty sweet. it felt like way more power. I love mine

Are you wanting to put the 2.5r in a Maxx with the 2.5 or the Pro.15? If it's a 2.5 now it's just an easy swap. If it's the Pro.15 there are some mods that need to be made but Traxxas sells a kit with everything you need except the ez-start and owb. The 2.5 is WAY more powerful than the Pro.15.

the only minor thing you have to do is allign the carb and the throttle arm so your throttle linkage will work correctly. they come set up for the revo linkages.
