flying 3D
I new to heli and still dont understand how helis can manage to fly upside down for rght side up. My question is how do you make it go upside down? I cant seem to imagine how to make it go this way. Any instructions out there with the stick controls?

RE: flying 3D
a heli that can go upside down or fly inverted, is a collective pitch type heli. to put it as simple as possible, the blades can change its "angle" or pitch to allow air to be pushed either way, most helis and transmitters with this kind of system are setup so the throttle stick at midpoint has no pitch on the blades, meaning it does not push air either way. when you push the throttle stick upward, the blades will give positive pitch, pushing air downward, and if you move the throttle below midway, you get negative pitch which will actually cause air to be pushed upwards,

RE: flying 3D
to make it go upside down for example:
1)pull back hard on the elevator and punch the collective hard
2)the heli will tilt nose straight up and maybe more from the momentum if you have enough power for this manuver
3)reverse the collective & the elevator - the heli will suck itself upsidedown
4)level the heli out inverted and reduce the collective to the point where it hovers.
remember all ur controls are reversed from here
now the tic toc:
(assuming in front of you)
it's like going upside down (towards you) but before it gets inverted u punch the collective to shoot it back (away from you) and this is repeated while piroing slowly. so basically the heli is like a hand on the clock that is moving back and forth in a V while piroing a few degrees each swing forward and backward.
it will stay in the air because it's moving like a V in terms of shifting forward and back and tail starts at 6 o clock for example.
this requires a LOT of power, really stiff blades to avoid a bladestrike, probably insane 3d skills, and a hand of god gyro. i dont think this manuver is possible with an electric heli it's just way too demanding on the heli. i seen it done on an trex that was upgraded sicc but it had to skip the piros part which kind of defeats the purpose IMO. i dont think a 30 size nitro could pull it off either. i heard many trex pilots crash during this stunt because of midair boom strikes as the back and forth will flap the mainblades like no tomorrow.

RE: flying 3D
thanks guys, looks like I wont be trying this out with my #35 just yet as I have not master hovering with this heli yet. Certainly sounds scary trying to go inverted and the V is even crazier!! certainly look like a way to trash a heli imo.

RE: flying 3D
it shows you how to do some 3d moves and the transmitter stick movements too.
check this out

or if that doenst work

RE: flying 3D
Hey jh4db536,
Thanks, I'll check these out. I've got hovering and slow FF down pretty good now and have an FMA Co-Pilot on order for my Rex to help me get into the more advanced stuff. Appearantly, it's a really good learning-tool. Will probably pay itself back from the crashes it'll avoid. :-)
Reflex XTR looks nice, BTW. I'm considering getting either that or RealFlight G3. Most good sims are about twice the price of the FMA Co-Pilot, though and probably won't beat learning on the real thing in relative safety.
Grtz,
Traveller
