Which engine for Stinson SR-9, 26" prop.
Hello experts!
Need your support to define good engine regarding power and reliabilty for my Stinsons SR-9, WS 125", weight 35 to 38 lbs. and should swing a 26" propeller. What would you recommend me?

André you could try http://www.brisonaircraft.com/ or http://www.fpengines.com/html/engines.htm
or look around in your area for a used 5.8 with a magneto and spring start, they are now quite reasonable with all the twin clyinder engines out there to choose from. Have a collection of them here and would be willing to provide one if you cannot find one anywhere else.

The brison engine is also one of my favorite!
Would you recommend a single or twin cylinder for this plane what are the advantages of both types?

I like any engine that is priced too good to pass up, have found a lot of good ones single and twins out there as listed on auction sites and classified sites alike. If i had a big Stinson model i would use a 5.8 single as i have spares here, hard for me to look past what is on hand and continue shopping. Perhaps a 6.2 twin would work well, more expense however.

What would you say if you compare the vibrations of both engines when running ?
Would it be a reason to use a tiwn instead of a single cylinder engine?

Guys have been using singles for years, twins vibrate less and on average will cost more. Any engine with a flywheel should vibrate less than one without a mag.
