Default would os 70's be to big for twin tiger 60....also pics of plane

hello.........this will be my third twin.........its a bashed tiger 60 that i bought off a gentleman from gainsville tx......i originally planned to put on saito 56's.....i have two os 70's that i might try instead...........will this be insanely over powered?.....i tend to put monster power on my single engine rc planes..i know that too much power can be a problem on a twin if one flames out....any advice out there?.......thanks..pault

In my opinion the power produced by the 70's are not a big issue but a consideration may be weight over whatever the original builder might have intended when it comes time to balance the aircraft. Another possibility is any limitations on prop length that may exist depending on how the conversion was done.

Best advice I can come up with that will contribute to the longevity of the airplane is to consider the use of outthrust on both sides four to five degrees will of course, not eliminate thrust disymetry but it will buy a few prescious seconds for the pilot to identify and make the approriate rudder (not aileron) correction.

I have a Tiger 2 twin with 2 OS .46AXs on it. It is a little heavy and lands slightly fast, but nothing an experienced pilot can't handle. I did install the engines first before the servos and put both the rudder and elevator in the rear for balance.

I think the .70s would be fine, just watch the CG.

thanks for the guidence......i am pressing on with the 70's with 4 degrees of out thrust.....i will post pictures of the tiger 60 when im done....the builder did a great job.....very well thought out......apparently he built many 40 and 60 size tigers, and sold them in the gainsville area....he recently passed away ,so a friend was selling planes he had finished for the wife........appreciate the advice..pault

Cool, I suspect you are going to have a fine flyer and good looking kit bash there. Always liked the Tiger's. You kinda got me gears spinning agine I enlarged one about ten years ago to 82 inchs with a single ASP 1.08 while a bit underpowered it was a fun and pleasent flyer, Have not flown it in about five years maybe I'll have to add it to the list for a pair of somethings.
