Soaking them is simple green or wd-40 for a few days (or overnight) works. Baby oil will also work.
To make your tires even more sticky & soft than they were when you first bought them, make sure they're completely dry and rub a bit of WD-40 lubricant into them. The oil will soak into the rubber and thicken. If you're going to run again the same day, only use a small amount. For day-before preparation or revitalization of old tires, soak them down and let them sit overnight. Wipe off the excess the following day.
