38cc Poulan
RC-Pilot: I just wanted to know if this 38 has been converted yet. Model PP220 chainsaw. I know C&H can make a ignition for about any saw engine. Thanks for your reply. Best Regards - Cap

Poulan 38cc engine conversion-anyone
I came across a 38 cc Poulan chainsaw engine (factory reconditioned) for around $100 CDN) ($65.00 US). Wondering if anyone has had any experience with converting this engine?

The someone has offered me this Poulan leaf Blower for $30! I've asked him for the model number, says it hasn't got one! Can any one identify it . . . just want to know the engine size if that's possible.

Weedeater blowers have either 22cc or 24cc engines. They are made by Poulan or the conglomerate that produce Poulan/Weedeater equipment.
Surely there is a model # on the blower, right? The engine displacement is usually on one of the labels on the unit.

Poulans...
Hey Capt,
I have two poulan conversions, the 42 and the 46.
I can tell you this, if you want to run stock magneto the 33, 34, 36, 38, 40, and 42 ALL have the stock magneto mounted to the saw casing NOT the cylinder. So, for all of them except the 46, you WILL need to order an ingnition or find a way to mount the mag and re-time it.
The 33-42cc all use the SAME components for conversion and CH has the kit for a resonable price. And is a top-notch product.
One of the deals with the 46cc though is that you have to fashion a way to attach the CARB to the cylinder. This is NOT true with the other sizes...they all bolt on. However, in the 46cc the carb is a press-fit rubber boot over and oval flange that has the pressure port off to the bottom left side. Kinda tricky, but I've seen some ingenious ideas to hold the carb on...from a aluminum plate or straps bolted to the top cooling fin and around the carb and bolted back to the mounting tab to a machined ring with set-screws.
So, ultimately....the answer is YES the 38cc poulan can be converted to RC use with electronic ignition. But to keep it stock flywheel/mag would require a little more work in getting the MAG mounted to the motor.
Now....you want an easy, and cheaper conversion?
Homelite 45cc chainsaw - $159.00
30 dollar conversion kit from RS Engines
25 dollar muffler
And your set!!!
phew...ok back to work.....
Hope this helps....

Weedeater Blow Vac Conversion
Are the blower vac conversions easier than the weedy's? Or is all that plastic ducting more trouble than its worth. it sounds simpler to convert.

engines
Blower engines tend to have more power than a weed string trimmer. The best thing to do is to list what models you may want to convert. Also state what cc you want to convert. The people that reply need to know what size and what kind of performace you expect. Good Luck Capt,n

The Blowers and weedWackers I've looked at have about the same amount of plastic and aluminium webbing to be removed. Here in the UK it's more of a case of just what you can find at a local garden centre that's on offer! This is what I did with my 21cc Mac:
