Fusion -Saito 180???

Fusion -Saito 180???
While I'm waiting on a 125 Saito for my Fusion. I'm thinking, (this get me in trouble sometimes) I have a 65" OMP Yak with a OS 120 that weighs 33.3 oz and it flys great. The Fusion will probably be a little heaver than the 65" sooooooooooo, the 180 saito weighs less that 1 oz. more that the OS 120. Would the Fusion handle the 180? One thing that got me think this is sometime in the future I would like to have the OMP 79" YAK. There is another question would the 180 work on a 79"?

Actually the Fusions are coming in lighter than most 65 yaks...at least the kit built ones are! And yes the Saito 180s have been widely used on the big profiles.

After looking into this idea more I think I will be happy with the 125 and keep the Fuison as lite. All I like is putting the motor on(when it comes in) the tank and battery, I'll wait for the motor and then decide where to put the battery, I hope in the hatch that you'll made in the fuse.
If I go to a big profile in a year or two I would like to go gas.
I tell everyone about this design and how easy it is to build. Your floaters are a blast to fly but I'm ready for a little different plane and I think I'll love this one. Keep your line of great planes coming. # 3 for me!

I used the Saito 150 on mine and it will balance with the battery behind the wing and two elevator servos, so you should be able to balance the 180, too. The 150 is killer power on this plane, though.
You will love the Fusion. It flies so smooth, but will turn as fast as the floaters. Knife edge is incredible almost no coupling, no matter how much rudder you give it. If the 40 size one flies anywhre near as well, it will be the next one on my list.
BTW, #4 for me. (47" Edge kit, KAtana kit, 65" Yak kit, Fusion) Haven't found a bad one in the bunch!

You guys amaze me with how much engine you put on a 90 size plane! Believe it or not the Fusions can be built too light! yes, too light.....can you believe it! Most builders are reporting around 7 lbs which is great for 3d but i have found the plane actually flies better heavier at around 7.5 lbs. For precision aerobatics, this allows better penetration and follow through from manuevers. Still a light wing loading though for 3d. John Drake's Fusion which was the first prototype weighs close to 8 lbs. If you have any doubts how that flies just check out Andrew Jesky's video.
