.46 3D plane
Hey all, I'm looking to get a new .46 sized 3D/sport plane. The trainer is getting boring to fly need a quicker plane! I dont have very much to spend. I was looking at the H9 twist, cheap price, Any problems or mods for this plane?(I would have read through the twist thread but thats way to many posts, it would take me like 2 days!).
Any other planes? I haven't looked at the others yet but I've seen a Great planes Dazzler at the field. Right now I wouldn't care if its ARF or kit as I've been looking for a while to start getting a kit built up.
Eventually I'll be putting a .72+ four stroke in this plane.
Thanks for the help!!

The H9 Twist 40 is a great little plane, I had no problems with it. I fly with a Evolution .46 with a 11x6 prop. I too was getting bored with my trainer type planes. The twist can slow down almost to a walking pace before it will quit flying. I think it is actaully easier to fly than my H9 Arrow or my WM Mach I Raider.

RE: .46 3D plane
Adr,
While I disagree that the Twist is a great 3D plane, it is certainly a good fun fly plane and a great first low-wing plane. Other good examples of this sort of plane are the Modeltech Magic Extra and Cermark Banshee G3D. The only negative thing I have to say about the Twist is that the fusalage structure behind the wing is kind of weak and the lite-ply fuse is somewhat harder to repair (for me anyway) than traditional balsa construction.
All of these planes will fly or land very slow due to the fat wing. They are not super stable and don't track precision manuevers like an IMAC plane or a pattern plane will, but they are a heck of a lot easier to land and have less tendancy for bad habits like snapping out of a loop.
The worst thing about them is that they are so easy to land that they may spoil you. In fact, I think my Twist is easier to land than most trainers.

RE: .46 3D plane
One of the best 3D plane for a 46 (non profile) are like:
Phoenix Funstar
TT Spirit
H9 F40 (fun to fly with a 46 but a lot more 3D with the SA72)
The above 2 planes will trash the Magic or Magic Extra
For sport planes after a trainer:
WM T34 Mentor
WM Super Sport 40
Best plane that can do literally everything:
Fliton Extra 330 ... 3D, IMAC, sport flying etc ... mine had the SA72 and it was totally good, but not with a 46 2C, it begs for a SA82 as the minimum to put a Grand Canyon wide smile on your face. With the SA100 ... well just ask around in RCU what the guys who had the SA100 in her feel about it ... If you have not got the SA72, just go for the SA82, on 30% nitro this engine rocks. In all honesty this plane is much better than my F90 or Harrier 3D 90.

RE: .46 3D plane
I just finished my 1st twist. I used the evolution power system (.45) with macs tuned pipe. Weight came in at 5lbs. 4.5 ozs. It balances upside down at 4 - 13/16 from leading edge. Idles at 1900 -2000 rpm (low needle is about 1.3 turns open), and WOT is at 13500 rpm (high needle is 3 turns open). The throttle transition is smooth and responsive from idle to wide open. I decided to use the APC 12 X 3.75 prop. I live at an elevation of 4500 feet. I have used the recommended D/R setups in the manual. Any pre-flight tips for this plane are appreciated. If the weather is good next weekend, I'll give you the maiden flight report. Here is a picture.
