It's a shame when a pure race manufacturer is offering a ready to run. At least it comes with a starter box and not a pull-start engine (small saving grace given the radio is AM).

I like Serpent. In the 80's I used to race the Excel in 1/8 scale gas. They didn't even have 1/10 gas back then. That car when set up right handled like it was on rails. AWD and a 2 speed. You can see from the photos how well used it is. I took these photos shortly before I sold it as it had been sitting around unused for about 12 yrs. Once in a while I would take it out to demonstrate to some one but I stopped racing due to job changes and relocations and not living anywhere near that kind of stuff gets raced any more. Ir could sit in a closet for 2 yrs. I would charge up the radio and the car would start right up. Never had engine trouble.

I'm getting back into the hobby. I just spent almost $1K yestrday buying a Losi XXX-NT Adam Drake truck, a radio, and engine and various accessories since I got rid of everything. Little did I know I would be getting back in. You know, you have stuff lying around for years and years, you finally decide to get rid of it. Then not long after you need it again. I could have used my radio, tools and all sorts of stuff. I would have only needed to get a new car.

Adam Drake did a live chat on The RC Zone a week or so ago and I got to talk to him too. I had never heard of him before then, but I guess he is well-known!

RTR market is huge. They need cash to stay competitive. I hate that Porsche sells an SUV, but I'd rather them make some money off the lucrative SUV market than go out of business or see them fail to compete and design fine autos because they are cash poor or on the verge of bankruptcy. History is lined with companies that produced incredible machines but failed to compete in their fields.

Why would anybody buy that. Who in their right mind would put a cheap RTR radio, into a pure-bred racer like the 710?
