RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
I have a Question for u all,
Lets say that you are new to or unaware of the hobby, and all of a sudden there was this big offroad rc track in your neighborhood.. you went to see what it was like because you were curious about it. You notice that this facility has trucks of different sorts for you to rent and try out on the track. Would you be interested in trying?? (i know that most of you reading this are probably all RC freaks already like me but pretend you are new.. =o) ) Let me know in this forum if you yourself would give it a go if you saw this place... is there anything you would expect out of this place or questions you have..
Let me know what you think =o)

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
I like that idea! If I wasn't already into RC, that kind of place would get me into it for sure.
Things I would expect from this place... Being new to RC...
Maybe a sort of "instructor" or at least someone to teach the basic skills (for an extra charge, of course)
It would be nice to be able to buy a truck there once I'm convinced that I like RC.
Once the "rentals" get all beat up, you could sell them at a reasonable price... scratch 'n dent

We did have an indoor place like that for a while here. They rented street cars and you raced on carpet or you could take your own car in and race. It was fun but didn't last long. I think an outdoor track with jumps would be a lot better and keep the people coming back.

It would me for sure. You could also charge a fair amount for those who have their own trucks and just want to use the track.

I would suggest for the people that have their own cars, is not to charge as much as other tracks. One reason I am switching tracks is the one cost 15$ for 3 5 min. heats and 1 5 min. main. The one I will be going to now is 5$ for 2 5min. heats and a 10min. main. A huge price difference. If you lower the price even just a little people will come to your place.

I totally agree. Now give me the good news and tell me you are going to open one where I live.

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
If the track was really impressive and well kept I wouldn't mind paying more to use it.
I've been into rc since for as long as I can remember but have never actually driven on a track. There are a couple indoor carpet tracks within an hour's drive but that doesn't excite me like a dirt track would. Sounds like fun!

I think that would be a great idea. Ther was one in the town I used to live in that rented onroad cars. Pretty nice place. Ten bucks an hour and they gave you all the GP batts you could burn in the hour. If your car broke, hand it aver and they would give you another one. They were about to open up the off-road track and rentals when I moved away. That's actually what sparked my interest to get back into RC after 15 years.

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
One thing I wish they had was rentals for all the different cars, trucks, and buggies. When I want a new wake board I can go down and rent a few different boards (brand new designs) and take them out on the lake for a day. How would that be to rent the newest buggy loaded with different electrics and see how it compares with your current setup. I would love it. Right now we all just have to look at the box and hope it is all the box claims it is.
Could be a very interesting idea.

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
^^^ My thoughts excatly.^^^
I would certainly pay money to try out different vehicles so I could compare them. But, that's speaking as an R/C guy. I don't think the average Joe would care to much about the difference between a BK2 and a B4. He might notice the change between a B4 and a MGT though.

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
Thanks for all of your feedback! I am not sure which vehicles to use as of yet, but i think the "rentals" would be aimed at the beginner... as in something with great durability but also enough power to be alot of fun. I suppose "which" vehicles to use would be based on alot of things... and consumer inputs. The track would of course be open to people who already have vehicles as that would be the majority. This would make RC available to absolutely everybody!! you could use a pretty high end car for only a rental fee... good for the whole family. club racing on sundays... rentals and practicing all other times.
And best of all would have my dream job... FIxing rc cars for a living =o)

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
man, a track like that i would help build myself, that sounds totally awsome, i would def show up anytime i had money to pay to get in, i agree with the other guy about selling hte used cars as "scratch N dent" but instead of just doing 1 track, why not go a little bigger and do an indoor dirt track and an indoor onroad race track? you know, it would kind of appeal to everyones sence of rc... and maybe in the corner put all the guys with ahuge monster trucks hehehe (sorry guys not a monster truck fan) but either way, could almost be like a family rec center or soemthing, just with ALOT of dirt

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
Well you better be ready with a million parts available for the cars... People will crash the things like there is no tomorrow.
But yea, I would be interested if I wasn't already into rc's.

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
Sorry moderators for the multiple posts, wasn't sure if people would see this in the "clubhouse" i won't do it again.
Yeah thats a problem i've been thinking about. kids getting on there and just crashing the cars into each other and just trying to smsh them up to get their moneys worth. The only solution i've come up with so far would be to limit car performance enough to where they couldn't totally destry them, but they would still be fun. so far in my experience 1/8 bugggies are pretty indestructible... at least my Mugen MBX5 is... but i haven't decided on electric or nitro either. then again i could get a bunch of 1/10 losi trucks (for example) and give them the basic strength hop ups and leave the power stock. a "ONE WAY around the track" policy is obvious and can be enforced by employed turn marshalls... or myself... which would solve the head on smashing incidents. I agree the best way is to have ahuge indoor facility that appeals to most interests onroad and off... What else would you guys expect from this place? what would keep the new people and the seasoned racers coming?
-Thanks for your inputs guys!!

at a on-road 1/8th track, soem guy started renting out M18's, and everyhting you could need, allowed you to charge the packs as many times as you wanted (he had like 3 chargers set-up) and he actuall madea preatty good amount of money because people saw and decicded to try and i thought it was a great idea.

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
I know its been a while since i answered this thread.. Thanks for the answers. I have come to the conclusion that Indoor will be the best in the long run. The design will be 1/8 off road. I think the rentals will be Losi xxxt's or sportworks Raven's. Rentals have to be electric at least to start. There will be a track-side hobby shop, and a timing system. let me know if there is anything you would want to see there!
I am doing a degree in international business and I am going to use this for my marketing project.. with high hopes of being able to make this happen in the future of course!
thanks alot!

RE: RC CAR TRACK RENTAL??
I'd giggle like a little girl if there was a track around here like that, even a track PERIOD, there's no rc racing ANYWHERE around here...im the only one i know of so far that even has one, everyone else spends there money on oversized coats and ganster hats and shoes and fake jewelry. Or huge rims for there 1983 rusted isuzu
