Know I can find em cheaper online but since I am new to hobby think it may be a good idea to pay a little xtra and get in good with the guys that know these vehicles.
ABSOLUTELY, I support my lhs as much as I can (besides those crazy deals on ebay) and the guy will get me free parts and Is very helpful, and best of all has a since of humor. This is a privately owned hobby shop and not commercial like say Hobbytown USA, where there goal is to sell you something instead of helping you out.

No these guys are locally owned and operated. You wouldnt like them though cause he carries Traxxas products. When I went down there to look Revo actually looked like a tough truck. Didnt look too easy to break.

I have to say that I think the Revo and Jato are pretty good quality stuff. I got my mgt like two months ago and I swear every time I went out something broke. Lower a arms, shock towers, turnbuckles, etc...etc...Jan 29 I got the Revo for my girl and so far nothing has broken. We only lost two drive shafts from the vibrations, but that's on me for not using lock tight before hand. Anyway, I got the Jato for myself the following week and it has not broken or lost one part yet, and I put it through some abuse. In the last three weeks I have been out to the track on Sat. and Sun. every weekend. You see all these guys with so many different vehicles and it's like they spend more time working on their stuff than they do running it. And I'm talking about the guys who have the high dollar stuff, starter boxes, expensive remotes, etc... While they are wrenching The Revos are running. That includes my mgt. I spent $470.00 + tax on the Revo and aside from fuel and the axles/shafts, that's it. I have now spent $800.00 + on my mgt. The motor quit and I replaced it with a picco.27, servo went out and I put in a High tec, (and yesterday the throttle servo quit), I have had to repair the transmission because it wouldn't shift -TWICE! and replace multiple non moving parts. I have a mini t with an aftermarket motor that has broken more than the Revo. The 5 year old has a xxxt sport and even it has broken more than the Revo and it only goes about 15 mph. I'll tell you what. I think the traxxas Revo and Jato are top quality, reliable products and therefore perfect for beginners but for someone who's really into it they are not going to be happy until they take out 2 pounds of junk and throw an O.S. .18 in it with new tires, forward only, remove one steering servo, lose the ez start, after market cooling head and put in a failsafe. I think this is all just a matter of choice and opinion. I love my girls Revo, (stock Revo) and so far my Jato is THE drag race champion at the track, But take an mgt, put a picco .27 in it, forward only kit, 15 t bell clutch and 52 t spur, a couple quality servos and some smaller tires, then come see me and you won't even care about the traxxas conversation anymore. You'll have what it is that the seriuos hobbyist look for and beginners don't know about.

Yup. Im a beginner alright and Im leaning way toward Revo or Jato now. Savin up and waitin for 3.3s to see how they do then its off to the giant open soccer fields to learn. Thats right takin my monster or stadium truck to a huge flat open grassy area. Blasphemy right? I just know if i take it anywhere else on first runs after break in Ill hit any and every stationary immovable object I can!

I dont get it if traxxas products are mostly on the toy side then why are they the only one's in 4 wheeler, anddirt bike magazines and why are they about racing especially with steve slayden. I dont think you can race a toy not unless (once again i have said) modified or hoped uped.

My lhs carries traxxas products which doesnt bother me as he sells alot to beginners, but I convinced him to get in some losi, hpi, and other parts.

Traxxas pays more for advertising then ANY other r/c company, thats why they are popular. People May pick up a magazine and see a r/c car which looks better then the tyco's they owned. They get so excited they dont even research other companies, but just go out and buy them.

ive had my t-maxx for a month now .. maybe a little longer ... but every time i've taken it out .. something has broken ... first time, hitting a small jump and, bulkheads broke, top of 2 shocks broke, replaced with aluminum bulkheads and aluminum shocks ... second time out, i ate a spur gear caused from factory error (spring to tight not absorbing wobble) which i then replaced with steel spur gear (without reading) and then ate up the clutch bell ... now all is good truck runs but needs tuned ... after everything including the truck im at around $600 i wouldnt of spent the money if i would of known it was going to break every time i took it out

So once you have a Revo set up and ready to run at about 600 bucks its a peice of entry level trash your saying? 600 bucks doesnt sound entry lvl to me. What the hell should I buy then in truck category for 600 bucks and not be disapointed? Every article Ive read other than these forums says Revo and Jato are good cars.
Maybe you should re-read my post, as I complimented the Revo and never noted that they are trash. Traxxas makes competent products, just as Toyota makes a competent Camry, or Hyundai makes a competent Sonata.

Rank a Traxxas product against a Losi LST2, or tell me how I can enjoy a .30 OS Engine in a Maxx? You might see someone jury-rig that combo, but it'd be funny.

The Revo somewhat represents their intention to dabble in a more sophisticated vehicle, but their whole business plan is about making money off inexpensive-to-produce products that sell at high volumes
.

I hardly call that a compliment but I respect what you guys have to say. I would just rather spend 470 or so on a Revo then 650 on a LST2. Anyone that has a Revo is not putting them down and all the vids I see of them bashing seem pretty tough to me. they drive away from majority of crashes.

Once again, you defend the Revo, yet I said nothing negative about the Revo.

Don't you that the reason that the revo is not breaking much is because the way its setup with the suspension? (kinda tucked away in the truck)

I mean the only thing I usually break on my E-maxx is the shock caps and the shock itself. I want to get a revo for b-day but 3.3 is kinda pricey.
