Default Stock Radio Question

I'm not sure if this is in the right forum or not, but since the savage uses the HPI system, I'm sure someone here knows the answer to this. I just bought a MT2 18ss and am looking at a receiver on ebay. I am trying to minimize my $$ outlay with this possible setup. Would the stock savvy TX work with a HPI 2 channel RX (RF-1)? I figure if it would, then I would just need the RX and can use my savvy TX for both. Any thoughts on this?

if both radio's and original receivers are AM then most likely.

If both Crystals are the same then it probably will work but a few settings/trims may need adjusting when using the different models

Just a follow-up post to let you all know what happend and so if anyone else searches for this topic they will have the info as well. I used my stock HPI Tx from my savage 25 RTR and bought a stock Rx from a Savage X on ebay. Everything worked great. The only downer was that the new Rx is only a 2 channel. But what do you need the 3rd channel for on an MT2 anyways?
