kat 70 is here!
My Kat showed up today. Really made me perc up when I turned into the driveway....
This thing looks great. Mine showed up absolutely perfect. I like the sheet aluminum gear. Plenty light and seems strong. No manual in mine, but after looking at the parts for about 5 minutes I knew where everything goes. I looked at so many planes before ordering this one. I wanted a high quality profile that was aimed at the advanced 3D market and was a bit bigger than the average 40 sized ship. I think I've found exactly what I was looking for.
So many arfs (and companies) are targeting the middle of the road RC crowd. Its really nice to find a company that understands there is more to 3D than hovering. 'guess I better stop quacking and get assembling. I've got a good feeling about this one.....

Dang, we've been putting the printed manuals in the kits as well for a while now. Your's snuck out. But you are right in that all you need to do is look at it and it's so simple to put together now with the V2s!

Right. I went to your website and looked at the online manual. As I read it I kept thinking,' yup, just like I thought...."
Pictures are real purdy, though
I figure I'll have it done in a day. Now that I've had a chance to look at it I must say the covering and construction are truly first rate.

Yes. This has to be one of the best arfs for the money right now. There is no way anyone can build a kit, this size, for the money. The only thing it is lacking is decent clevis' and rods.

Mine showed up yesterday.
after looking everything over i found a couple things amiss
the wing fillet has multiple cracks
and the horizontal stab has the left tip broke almost through
only the covering holding it on, i sent an e-mail to suport.
here are some pic's, LMK how to take care of this. thanks

True. especially if you're ugrading to fast, strong servos. I'm going to use carbon rods with Du Bro 440 locking clevises. I've had good success with this setup for planes to 28%.

E-Mo, are this damage areas something that you can fix without too much trouble. I got your email today about it and we can work something out for sure. Still looks like a real good bird waiting to fly.

Emo,
what do you think of the landing gear? I think it looks pretty sweet. Should be more durable than the wire.
I'm starting mine on saturday. I expect to have it done and charging that evening...

EMO, I tried to reply to your PM but got the message that you have your PM capability disabled. So anyway we can certainly send you that fairing. Please call Vicky or John and give you address and they'll get a new part out to you.

E-mo,
I have a whole box of those, and just held a 24 up to the fuse. That seemed a little long, but I don't think a 12 will do it. So I'll just probably throw a couple of 24's in there.
now watch, a 12 will be perfect.......

EMO, Vicky said you called but did not provide your info. I still can't PM you so you may want to go into your RCU profile and reset allowances for PM ability. Shoot me your address in a PM so we can get you up in the air.

I trial fit my wing and it went together like butter. I didn't have to use any pressure to get it on the tube. and the fit on the tube and to the fuse is absolutely perfect!

E-MO. What servos did you end up going with. JR?
I used Jr125's w/6V
The elev. and rudder servo has problems with horible glitching. At full deflection and neutral. I will take them back.

RE: kat 70 is here!
I'm changing my tailwheel bracket out for a Sullivan, too. E-mo, use the stock horns they're awesome!
I started another thread 'cause I didn't think anyone ws watching this one anymore.
The throttle servo mounts work great. I've used that system lots. Funny, fuel never seems to get there because (on a two stroke) its ahead of the exhaust.
Iowasilvia,
I used Futaba 9402's. 89 oz at 4.8 in .13 sec. Fast, strong, without the batt drain if digitals.

RE: kat 70 is here!
I have a 24" HD extension to each tail servo and 12" to each ail. servo. The antenae goes out the wing.
I brought back the 2 bad tail servos to my LHS. He first wouldn't replace them because there was a little bit of oil residue from when I ran my engine. But I said they have a 3yr warranty. They are less than a month old and never been flown. I really don't want to put a plane up in the air when the servos twitch like crazy. Finally he swapped me for new ones.
I haven't checked the new ones yet. but will soon.

RE: kat 70 is here!
Probably best to post regular building threads and comments in the normal fun fly forum. Most folks come here for product or tech support so that's why the other thread didn't go anywhere. But anywho.......I'm glad you got the new fairing EMO and be sure to shoot some flying pics once you get this beast in the air.
