Default Would this work?? IV to XPRO

Well, I had this weird thought this morning.

I went to the Spectrosolutions website.
I noticed that it looks like you can buy all the stuff for the XPRO.
Except the circuit board!

If a guy bought all the stuff to make an XPRO,
could he use the board from the Draganflyer?

Would it work?
Anyone have any ideas?

Just curious.
You know what they say:
Bigger is better!

I went to RCtoys website and
was checking out some pictured of the Xpro.

The dome shot, looks like it shows a radio reciever.
No circuit board! Where is the circuit board?

Can someone clarify this!
thanks

Yeah, I'm curious about that, too (the circuit board, that is). The X-PRO does not have TI or TI-associated features such as Autoland, as far as I know, which helps make things simpler for sure. The electronics necessary for basic gyro-stabilized flight aren't that complicated. And I'm sure the radio RX is integrated. So maybe that IS the circuit board...?

The Xpro uses higher powered motors that draw more current than our DFV boards can supply. By the looks of our 10A fuse, the rating of the board is not very high. My Trex CP Heli draws near 30A using a single brushless motor. Those Mabuchi motors are rated at 9W so 2A/motor is about right.

The FETs (4 of them) on our DFV board are not capable of driving larger motors requiring more current to run since they don't have heat sinks and would more than likely burn up.

It would be nice if the control signals on the DF board could be routed somehow to 4 brushless ESCs and run a quad brushless motor (3500kV) setup. This would put the Xpro to shame[>:]

I thought I saw a post somewhere that Spectro was working on a board with brushless controllers built in.

Could be. They must be looking at using smaller brushless motors though. The ESC used to control the larger 3000kV+ motors have a fair size footprint (about the size of two quarters side by side). So 4 of them would take up room. I would rather have a big sucker like the Xpro than a small DFV sized one.

I'd be willing to consider developing one but I have no carbon fiber building skills , only electronics. 4 ESCs wired up to 4 brushless 3000kV ION motors and a microcontroller tied to a 3-axis accelerometer for the levelling circuit. No Ti, who needs that anyway (FMA sells a co-pilot device for CP helis that does the same thing as Ti)

Mike told me that the next thing he was working on was the brushless set up but had no time as to when it woul be released for sale. This was last November when he told me this.

Someone also mentioned drop-in replacement higher powered motors for our DFV. These were conventional brushed motors however but more juice to them.

Did you hear this as well?
