T-MAXX DIFFS
Alright, I have a t-maxx with a 2.5R engine. I love the truck, but the one thing that always fails on me is the differential ring and pinion gears. I bought all new gears and 2 new diff cases not long ago, and they are starting to skip again. I am tossing the idea of buying robinson racing diffs around. But now I am wondering if I should buy aluminum dif cases also, to stop the gears from flexing and skipping. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

RE: T-MAXX DIFFS
There is no need for upgraded gears with the stock 2.5. Take your time building the diffs and shim them right and it should solve your problem. Alum diff cases will help also the stock ones tend to flex which will cause slippage also, but they are not a must until you upgrade motors.

Ohh, I forgot to mention that I am getting a big block conversion for my maxx, and I will be running a 24.7 engine in it. This is why I am wondering what to do with the diffs.

Stockers in alum cases shimmed right will hold up in most cases to big block power. Then you could go all out and get some UE 8 spyders in UE VBS, and don't look back. I am sure there are others who will have an opinion, listen them dicide wat will work fou you.
Here is a web site that shows how to shim them.

Dry fit them untill they are as smooth as butter, write everything down them reassemble them with some qualtiy moly grease.
