If DFI can call rubber bands "tension stabilizer bands," then I think you can invent whatever fancy name you want for your golf ball.

Looks cool! Any concern at all about the motor getting enough airflow? Or are the wiffle holes big enough?

I'm wondering if a few more strategically placed holes could direct more air from the prop into the motor, might be worth a try

since your tying the balls on anyway ,you can make the hole as big as you want . the extreme being cut the ball in half. all the air from the props could be channeled into the ball and trapped . I used a wiffle ball and so far the motor temps dont seem to even come into play. I thought the holes in the ball would be sufficient enough for cooling. I never put a non contact
infrared thermometer on the motors to compare but i will. touching the motors with my fingers I cannot tell a difference. Someone else wrote in an eariier thread about ping pong balls and the answer someone else said was their arent any holesin a ping pong ballsbut if you could channel the downwash into them and with a holetowards the bottom with non on the sides it would be interesting to see if it would work. just the damage $$ that are saved by having the motors encased is worth it to me even if it shortened the motor life. because everytime you have to unsolder the connections your asking for problems. and i just had another idea for solderless motor connections. Why not put a solderless connection on the motors right where the wires run up the side of the motor and are covered with the rubber shrink tubing. the connections could be easilly identified the same way the motors have a red dot on them the motors would have to come with the connection already soldered on them by someone else???????????? but just not me!!!!!!!!!!! it would be so sweet to be able to unplug the wire and replace a motor in the field with ever having to break out a soldering gun again. Now i would be more than willing to pay a little more for the motor but wouldnt it be groundbreaking?????????

intrim, you've got a lot of balls to do something like that! Four to be exact.

As far as using them for orientation, that is a good idea but to be effective only one should be used on the frame somewhere to break the symmetry and with enough clearance for the rotor to pass.

Sky, he's just got the ball on the front motor...

Intrim, I've thought about coming up with a plug connector for the motors, too...and then I tell myself that I'd rather spend the time learning how to not have to replace motors that often.

Now, I have to see if I can fly the thing with this ridiculous get-up ( "external rotation brace" ) my doctor says I'm going to have to wear for six weeks to heal my dislocated shoulder... [:@]

Oh, so he didn't have the balls to go all the way. Well, I don't have the balls to do it right now. It looks like noone else has the balls to do it either.

I put 4 on mine.....I tried different colors and ended up with leaving 3 white and the front one Florescent PINK.....
I can see it clearly 100-150 feet away...
I checked my motors and they are only running above 5 degrees warmed...sooooo no big deal.
Ok....enough ball talk....Geeezzzzz....I'm going flying.
Lacey
P.S. I wired my flight lights to them and they Really show up during night flights.
