Giant Scale batteries
I'm new to Giant Scale. I'm just about ready to fly my WM GS Mustang. I'm running nine servos total, mostly HS-605s.
What is the minimum size battery I could go with? I'm thinking a 1100Mah is not going to cut it.

i would think you run no less then a 1800mah pack. I am somewhat new to Giant Scale also so i need to know this aswell. i have a 3W P-51D i am going to start building just after the first of the year sounds like a great project you got going! got any pics yet ?

I use 300maH per servo. I heard it someplace a long time ago and that is what works for me. Depending on the plane and how I fly, it last all day or just several flights.

There are a few primary considerations:
1] Battery type NiCD, NiMH, LiMetal or Li-Ion all of these have differing abilities to provide the needed current for your model
2] Servo type and count. Analog or Digital?
3] Single battery or dual battery system?
4] Length of time you intend to fly the model between charges?
5] Weight of the battery needed to assist in balancing the model.
Nine analog servos utilized in a war-bird such as WM P51 will most likely draw approximately 200mAh [probably less] for a 10 minute flight. I have actually measured the consumption with eight digital's in 33% aerobat performing aggressive routines, average consumption was 22mAh per minute.
NiCd and NiMH cells can provide significantly more current on demand than Lithium cells of any type on a comparable basis and are more robust and cost less.
Your 1100mAh battery will work. You'll need to monitor the voltage before each flight, you should do this regardless of the battery type, size or model being flown. If you have to purchase the battery pack I'd look at 5-cell, 6V battery packs of at least 1400mAh capacity.

Who has the best 2700 packs?
Also, I hear stories of the 6 volt packs causing the jitters when fully charged. I'd like the plane to last five 8 minute flights. I'm also forced to use NiCads due to the chargers I own.
