Default Ultimate Nose Heavy

Mike,

I have a Saito 100 on my Ultimate. It is flying like a dream but was tipping over whilst taxiing or landing.
Therefore I have changed the angle of the landing gear as compared to plan and now the wheels are positioned more to the front and the theterite mount top hole was moved backward.

I used two alu plates and a tube for the top hole to reinforce the structure. I kept the original top bolt in place
This might help other Ultimate builders and may be a recommendation to change the plan for heavier motors

Regards
Paul

Yes, you are right. The stock location is tippy for grass flying but I designed this style to give the gear more the scale look of the Ultimate. Since all my test flying was from a paved runway I never guessed that grass would be a problem. Future kits will be modified with new gear location.

Thanks,

nice to see how this Forum is really fostering a learning community. Actually the idea came from GWwalter, my trainer and mentor in our club. I just executed. Now the Ultimate is taxiing and landing great !
